Widely considered to be the rainy season in Agresti. Temperatures lean more on the mild side closer to the end of the season, but early spring tends to be bitterly cold. Be mindful if you go out adventuring - you will likely get partially frozen mud caked over everything you own.
If you don't have planting or battling to do, it's likely the best season to curl up inside with a warm drink.

Spring 1st - Festival of Renewal
After the harshness of winter comes the revival of the land through the warm rains of spring... which are sometimes not exactly warm, but it sounds more pleasant if you say it is. The Festival of Renewal, acting as a counterpoint for the winter's anniversary of the fall, is a time of regaining one's bearings and refreshing oneself in preparation for the year ahead. It's a bit like New Year's, but with a lot more freezing rain.

The most common way to celebrate, rather than setting goals for the new year, is instead to beat back the ill omens that plagued you during the previous one. Got assaulted by the Milotics at Good Luck Lake last year? Go beat one up. Your girlfriend dump you? Become a Casanova. New year, new you! This tends to result in some... rather unorthodox mistakes, more often than not... but hey, that's what keeps the guild in business.

Predictably, the warmest season of the four. As the balminess of spring shifts into the heat of summer and the days become longer, Frontier City tends to get more lax - multiple businesses tend to close during the afternoon for a few hours in order to enjoy the weather and beat the worst of the heat. Air conditioners are a rare luxury here, after all!
Remember to keep hydrated and pack protection from the sun if you're going out anywhere.

Summer 31-37 - The Grand Tournament
It's that time again! What time, you ask? Well... no one actually knows! 
Started initially by Factory Labs as a poorly planned attempt to get people to stop trying to rent Pokemon for at least a few days, the Grand Tournament is a festival near Summer's end wherein citizens of all stripes are pitted against each other in... just about every sort of non-Pokemon related competition you could think of! The first year it was celebrated included Frontier's citizens going head to head in hand-to-hand combat, cooking, ballroom dancing, charades, and children's card games.

Generally, the events are picked out of a hat filled to the brim with suggestions from people around town - no one actually knows what manner of things participants will be competing in until they're announced on the first day of the tournament. Still, the prizes the Lab offers for staying off the premises for the week were nothing to sneeze at, so it was decided it would be celebrated again in Frontier City next year.

q. wait. fallers are a faction, but all citizens of agresti are considered fallers? What gives? /  Do I get the faller perk if I make a character starting in a different faction?

a. As a faction, fallers are like your "civilian" class - they're the people like merchants or Nurse Joys who populate your towns. That doesn't necessarily mean they can't obtain or train Pokemon, but it may take a while before they're as adept as, say, a Seeker is. However, they'll have picked up other skills as a result of not purely focusing on Pokemon over time - hence why their perk is not granted until a mod gets a feel for who they are as a person / what they do occupation-wise.

However, to keep things fair, if you don't immediately start with a faller-class character, you will not get a faller perk. You can have your other-factioned character eventually learn to take up another job, which may eventually lead to a faller perk if they multi-faction and linger around civilians for long enough, but as it stands, no. Just as Pokemon Trainer Red wouldn't know how to act as a doctor for people unless someone taught him, you do not instantly gain an extra skill for a practice you have not dedicated yourself to.

q. can we make characters from time periods before the modern day? 

a. You may! However, due to the nature of the way the wormholes were opened, most of them are condensed within contemporary history - that is, between the 1990s and 2020s. Anything beyond that is considered to be extremely uncommon, and will be taken on a case-by-case basis.  


q. what level of technology is agresti at right now?

a. considering the region was born out of essentially dumping a bunch of people from the modern day onto an abandoned island with the ruins of what was a state of the art battle facility at the time, technology is about... what you would anticipate. pretty much everything is cobbled together from parts of the frontier at present - computers exist without proper internet, electricity is sustained with occasional aid from electric-type Pokemon, tilling and sowing seeds is still largely done by hand. As new people with fresh perspectives and knowledge of their own continue to trickle in slowly, the vast majority from modern society, improvements are being made steadily, but Frontier City at its peak still gives off a very 'small, isolated town' vibe in spite of its posturing.

q. what starter pokemon options are available?

a. certainly not the ones you're expecting! SD! works on a rental Pokemon system, wherein you borrow one of 15 different types in order to capture your first Pokemon yourself. after that, it's anticipated that you'll return the Pokemon... in character, anyway. Out of character, we don't mind if you just make your rental overdue, but your character might see themselves in a bit of hot water for it. 

in order to obtain a rental Pokemon, all you have to do is pick the one you like best. Because we aren't pansies, however, don't expect there to be some sort of meet and greet - no, here on the ruins of the Battle Frontier, we do battle to get to know our Pokemon formally. once you make your choice, you will be matched up with an aide - or potentially another aspiring "trainer" - in order to fight it out. If you handle your partner competently, win or lose, they may just become your new companion!... for a little while.

All canon characters that have existed upon Agresti at any point shall be listed here, alongside any additional face claims used by them. A brief summary of the canon's past actions on Agresti may be given upon request.
