[PRESS START]SKYDROP! is an unholy crossbreed between classical Pokemon region traversing, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, and a Harvest Moon/Town based slice of life role play. We straddle the line between canon and noncanon - while mainverse canon events and characters are welcome here, SD itself is set in an entirely non-canon region located beyond the Ultra Wormholes. With a heavy focus on player interaction and character growth, the Agresti region is designed to grow with its players - who may have as much or as little lasting influence on the region as they choose. To keep the peace around here, we have a few quick rules we need followed. Any forum or content linked here that fails to abide by them will be deleted - please keep them in mind before posting! 1. Please, no blatantly NSFW sites! This is mostly because Proboards would probably kick us out instantly, even though the grand majority of people who inhabit Proboards these days tend to be adults. 2. Make sure the adverts section of your forum is guest friendly. If we have to hustle to link back, it just isn't going to work. 3. Our coding doesn't generally play nice with [dohtml] ads! So don't post them~ Also remember this is proboards so you'll need to adjust from jcink coding for center codes and the like. 4. A sweep will be done of this section once a month. During that time all ads older than two months will be deleted. You're allowed to post here multiple times so long as the same courtesy is given to us on your site. 5. If you're interested in affiliating, please let us know in this thread We will, however, require an 88 x 31 button to go at the bottom of our forum.

For the most part, SKYDROP! follows canon Pokemon history, which can be found on Bulbapedia. For more contemporary history, you can find a timeline of years and which events of which games occurred when below. As the events in the Pokemon gameverse are indicated to occur over at least two separate variations of the universe, so too do the events of SD! conform to that due process. The only exceptions are Ultra Sun/Moon (and by extension, Rainbow Rocket), Let's Go and any unlisted versions, which take place in another alternate of the universe parallel to the two listed here. However, at the risk of things getting too complicated, we'll leave them out. For the sake of keeping everything neat and tidy, the timeline for both the canonverse and events of historical note that occur in SKYDROP! can be found on a Google Doc here.

locations of noteFall Island
The entry point of humanity in the Agresti Region, Fall Island is populated by a civilization built on the ruins of the Hoenn Battle Frontier, a location that previously wasn't thought to exist. Although still in its infancy, the people of Fall Island (better known as 'Fallers') are a strong-willed group with a history of surviving their own regions as trainers growing up, and have since managed to leverage their resources in order to build a new society where none previously existed. Frontier City stands as a testament to their will to survive, and is constantly welcoming of new talent in order to expand their reach. Fall Island has a temperate climate, and fully experiences all four seasons. Although culturally very close to any city in Hoenn due to its origins, it's become something of a melting pot for people of a variety of different backgrounds and origins. Southeastern Land MassAn unexplored area to the southeast of Fall Island. It's shaped a little like a claw, or the roaring head of a beast - something that has spurred a number of tall tales on the dangers that lurk there. There may be some truth to the stories, however - no one who has gone to the southeastern land mass has ever returned. It has what is probably the most impressive mountain range of the three major ones, able to be seen as far as Frontier City. Southern ArchipelagoAn unexplored area. Supposedly, the climate is far warmer than it is within the northern end of the region, but nobody has ever returned from exploring the area to tell about it. Southwestern Land MassAn unexplored area. Although it's been perceived as the best possible candidate for advancement by the Guild, the distance from Fall Island and the dense forests have turned away many would-be explorers and business people. Out of the three major land masses that make up Agresti, it's certainly the biggest; although whether it hides more mysteries or simply has more land for development is up for debate. Western IslandAn unexplored area off the far coast of the southwestern land mass. Little to nothing is known about it.

the passage of timeIsn't it sort of boring when things always remain the same? Have you ever wondered what it would be like if a second generation took up the mantle? Are you interested in seeing how newly built cities might grow and change over time? Well, look no further! SKYDROP! embraces a system that permits for the passage of time... in two different ways. The first of these is one you've likely heard come up a few times before - on Agresti, every month and a half that passes is a complete season. For example, if the group started in January, the entire month of January until mid-February would be spring. The later half of February until the end of March would then be summer, which would mean fall would begin in April and continue along in that manner. A full Agrestian year is 6 months in real world time. Just like you would on any regular year, you can also expect your character's age to increase by 1 on their established birthday for every year that passes. We have a calendar here that will allow you to track your (and other!) character's birthdays. On that note, a character's birthday will be celebrated on the first occurrence of that date in the season. For example, If your character was born on Fall 3rd, it would be celebrated first on April 3rd in our example, and then once more on October 3rd for the second year that would pass. If you're not sure what season it is, check the updates section of the site. The second method of time passage is skips. Skips encompass multiple years at a time - they're typically plot related, and occur during the period it would take for Agresti to return itself to some sense of normalcy after a cataclysmic event. Don't worry, they certainly won't come out of nowhere - in order for a skip to happen, at least 80% of active members must give their consent in the poll that the staff will put out post-plot. For that 20% who is in disagreement, other arrangements will be found to prevent your character from taking the brunt of the time skip age-wise - however, majority still rules in terms of the world outside of that.

gyms & contestsGyms and contest halls are generally the hallmark of a major city in the region. However, they do more than just accept challengers looking to take up the mantle. Just as the Guild is the first and last line of defense in Frontier City, so too is a gym the most defensible space in the communities they inhabit. In times of disaster, townsfolks will be ushered into the town gym to seek protection while it's leaders and trainers will defend their turf. If a gym falls, the town can be anticipated to follow it shortly after. Contest Halls, on the other hand, typically also serve as community spaces as cultural centers. Are you from Unova, and looking to put together a Pokemon Musical? Maybe you have musical talents you want to share? Along with setting up contests, the Hall Master handles those sorts of affairs as well. Have you ever wanted your character to be a figure of authority at one of these fine establishments? A fair warning, it's a difficult road, and to some degree, you're going to have to earn it. Gyms may be established in the order that they are defeated. While the first gym may be established by anyone at any township, the second one may be only established by someone who has already defeated the first gym leader - or, if they're so inclined, the first challenge of any nature the leader desires, a la the Alola Island Challenges. This goes until all 8 positions are filled - at which point, a tournament will be held on the site to decide once and for all the four strongest trainers in the region. Those victors will make up the Elite 4. The first person to defeat all of those people will become the champion. Contest Halls follow a similar rule, but different - once four contest halls are created, there will be a Grand Festival to dictate the pecking order of the Hall Masters. The winner will be considered the owner of the Master Rank Hall, 2nd Place Hyper, 3rd Super, and 4th Normal. Grand Festivals will then be held once every in-game year in years following, at which point Hall Masters will compete with other coordinators who have passed the Master Rank level to hold onto their titles. Otherwise, it just offers another opportunity to keep things fresh both within your character's arc and for new entries. The details for how each Gym/Challenge and Contest Hall may be approached will be decided by the individuals holding those titles once the roles are filled. If a Gym Leader or Hall Master is unable to fulfill their duties or goes inactive, the spot will become available for any character that meets the original criteria (e.g. has all of the badges/ribbons required up to that point). CURRENT GYMS (0/8):None right now... CURRENT CONTEST HALLS (0/4):None right now... player power rolesAs you may have noticed throughout our guides, players are able to do quite a bit here that is typically only permitted to those with a moderation role with other sites. This is both to assure that players feel free to make SD! their own in some ways, while also assuring that the mod(s) isn't instantly overwhelmed with requests to act. But what IS the full extent of things players can do without mod assistance? Well, to sum it up... Accepted players (people with at least one accepted character) CAN:- freely role play on any unlocked area on the map (indicated by the presence of a board for it) on here or on discord - spawn swarming and common pokemon (for themselves) - spawn uncommon wild pokemon (for other players) - create and run their own mini (non-site wide) events Accepted players CAN, if mods are INFORMED:- establish new areas on the map - capture the aforementioned Pokemon spawned - create and run new teams/organizations - create and run their own mini (non-site wide) events with awards- create and complete missions for one another Players CANNOT:- Run their own exploration sessions - spawn rare and legendary pokemon - create and run plot events (without express permission) - create their own perks - general mod duties, such as posting announcements or accepting applications As a quick aside on player-run wild encounters, these can be run in whatever manner the interfering player decides. They may throw you a prompt with a few key things to work in, or they may full out role play out the wild Pokemon battle with you. Like with battles themselves, everything is on a case-by-case basis. 'But,' you may be wondering, 'what counts as a mini-event?' Well! Glad you asked. A mini-event occurs in only one city, route, or area on the unlocked map, and can be... well, pretty much any smaller, casual thing that you want. If your character is a snake oil salesman, maybe they're making a pitch to try and trick other people into buying the latest useless thing they've drummed up and gathered quite a crowd in the process. Maybe your character is a master thief and has left a note of intent to rob the laboratory, which attracts guild members to participate in the thread. You want it, you're free to deliver it! Potentially with prizes with no expense on your part, if you run those by a staff member and get the okay for it. Please note that not all mini-events will qualify to give prizes, however - it will be decided on a case by case basis of appropriateness for the situation. On a similar note, you're also free to make up missions for other players to fulfill! The prize for completion of these missions would have to be within reason and run by a mod first, but if you've ever wanted to give a little incentive behind your thread, that's the opportunity for it. Please note that your homebrew mission has to actually involve doing something, and will likely be held to an actual standard the way any other mission is. For a more concrete example: OKAY -Building a bridge with a group of characters, sending someone to capture a bunch of a certain species of common Pokemon, hiring someone to try and steal something from a (consenting) character or institution. NOT OKAY - 'i'm lonely sit and talk to me for prize : ( ' , tasks that could be finished in about 4 posts, not getting consent from parties directly affected by your missions ... So, in summary, be nice and play fair, and everyone will be happy. If you're looking to add an official mission open to anyone, you can post it in the guild here.

explorationAre you tired of hanging around Fall Island all the time? Do your Pokemon feel more like pets or decorations than companions upon the journey of life? Well, maybe now you're ready to spread your wings and start travelling some new horizons... which is where the 'mystery dungeon' part of this inbred role play kicks in. Going on an exploration is an extended ordeal that functions a bit like a D&D kind of shtick. Given that these require a lot of commitment on the staff running it's part, there will be a hard limit to how many people can go at one time... but in exchange, you'll have to build up a decent sized party of at least four players before you adventure out. Safety in numbers! After you have some ugly mugs to go travelling with, you have to choose your path. Let’s say, for this example, I want to find a lake with less Milotic swimming around in it to walk around. Using the nearest handy-dandy paint program, I would draw the route I’d intended to take, like so: What a beautiful line! I'm a great artist. Notice that I've used the line tool to keep them straight and non-diagonal- this is in case I want to save the route for use in the future, by myself or others. You don’t have to start at a city, of course - this is just for the example. Once you and your team come to an agreement that this is where you wanna go, and whether you want to conduct it over the forums or discord, it's time to approach a mod. There's an availability list on the Agresti Today board that'll be kept up to date with who has time to take you on tour, so just choose whoever has an open. If there are no opens, please don't pester staff to make special exceptions for you - you may ask to go on the waiting list, but we'll get around to you in due time. “But why do I need a mod, exactly?” You wonder. Simple - travel isn’t cut and dry - obstacles, such as the strait you see on this map, need to be overcome in some way before you can proceed. Not to mention, being out in the wilderness means you may run into wild Pokemon… or worse. Your chosen mod is there to guide you through what you and your companions may see, hear, and need to overcome before you reach your destination. It’s up to your group to use its wits, willpower, and resources in order to get past the mod’s challenges in a light dnd-esque setup. (Don’t worry, this isn't too hardcore, and if you think outside the box or make the mod laugh it is possible we may skip some of the rolls)
Once you arrive, the mod will offer you a brief explanation of the surrounding area... and, sometimes, a little something extra if your group was particularly entertaining. At that point, the attending characters may decide to take what they wish from the new destination, or establish a particular landmark there for other characters to find. Or maybe, if they want to be able to access the place again, they’ll mark off the route to make it accessible to themselves and others. Up to you!

developmentBut the available part of the map is tiny! You cry. Isn't there anywhere more exciting I can go?Sure there is! All you have to do is either go off the map, or destroy whatever's in the way of your progress. That simple! ...Or, it would be, if I explained it properly. Since mindless destruction is easier to make sense of, we'll go over that first. Say, for example, you were having a nice thread over near Beast's Spine (the yellow dot here!). You're having a nice time, but you're getting kind of bored of those peasant employees taking so long to dig through to the other side. So, you and your partner want to do something about it. You write a post wherein you have your Gyarados use Hyper Beam on the wall, and then tag an admin somewhere in the notes of the post before you put it up. And then.... BOOM! Congratulations, you just made a new route (or, half of one at least!) Feel free to give it a name, if you want. Otherwise, it will just be named according to the number it was created in. This one would be 4. Of course, destroying things isn’t the ONLY way to make a route. You can also establish one through completing an exploration. I'll explain how to do that in the section next post. advancementBut making that route wasn’t enough for you, oh no. You’re going to develop the area further. At the end of the path your Gyarados carved out from the mountain, you take some time and build a general store. A Fallmart, if you will. It will be the first in a chain of many. You don’t need to make a thread or ask anyone else to join you in that venture, all you have to do is let a mod know. Eventually this will probably actually cost something, but considering how pathetic the housing market is on Agresti right now, your first construction project is absolutely free. Please note that you can only have one building constructed at a time, however, and it will take two weeks in real life time to be completed. But if you're patient, eventually... Congrats! You just made your own notable location. This’ll get you your own spot on the Agresti map. You're now the authority on this location, unless you should desire to turn it over to the staff. But, let's skip ahead. Let's say it’s now a season or two later, and Fallmart is doing well. You got some employees, and they decide to build their own places of interest around the Fallmart. Someone even decides that they want to run a gym, and has it constructed inside the mart - much like a McDonalds in another, similarly named location. Suddenly…. Wowzers! You have your own city! Short of building a mountain or blowing away a chunk of the continent, this is the highest level you can get to. As the founder, you can give it a name, description, or any other lore you’d like attached to it. Congrats, you’ve made it. Now, you just have to make sure no one tries to ruin it.

trading
You may have seen the subject come up a few times throughout this explanation, but it only left you to wonder - how can I do that? Trading is very easy! There's no specially-made section for it here - in fact, it's something you can do either on discord or within any existing role play thread between you and the person you're trading with. Just simply mention which Pokemon you're handing off to who, and have your partner post something about receiving it. If it's a mutual trade rather than being one-sided, have them do the same with the Pokemon they're giving you. Presto! You've traded.
Now, there are pros and cons to doing a trade. On one hand, trading resets individually-earned experience points, meaning that any Pokemon you encounter that is 'new' to that Pokemon is permitted to be given the EXP accordingly. On the other hand, friendship is measured individually, and will be started at 0 for the person it is traded to... or, if the 'traded' Pokemon was stolen, they'll receive a hit of -50 friendship from the get go. Ouch. Hope they don't require that to evolve.
friendship
Friendship is measured on a scale of -255 to +255, and is earned through having a Pokemon participate in a thread. Each thread the Pokemon is included on will earn +5 friendship by default, with a bonus of +5 if the interaction was positive and non-battle related, or -10 if the interaction was negative (e.g. you forced them to eat a gross herb to regain health). Just be sure to list the participating Pokemon and their gains alongside EXP once you have finished a thread. Pokemon that evolve via friendship may do so upon earning 100 points.
Supposedly, something special happens if you can reach the full 255 with a Pokemon in the Agresti region. However, scientists aren't entirely sure what that entails yet.
eggs & breeding
You don't have to be a Preserver to breed your Pokemon, just as you don't need to be a Seeker to battle, but someone who isn't on the road fighting constantly is going to have a much easier time of it than someone that is. This is mostly because they're more likely to own private property, where a pair of Pokemon would able to get comfortable enough in order to produce an egg to begin with. Once settled, breeding takes 5 days in real time - a staff member will roll a dice on how many eggs you will receive from the union. You may obtain anywhere from 1 to 6 at one time, depending on the roll - after that, it's your choice whether you hatch or sell them for a little extra money.
Hatching eggs is, like most things, dependent on their presence in threads. Depending on the rarity of the Pokemon, some will take longer than others - how many threads it will take will be set once the egg is first presented on the site. Once you have reached the thread quota, just PM a staff member and let one of us know, and we'll give you the resulting Pokemon.
common - 2 threads uncommon - 4 threads rare - 6 threads
Breeding isn't just for egg moves, however! If you're particularly lucky, one of your eggs may hatch as a crossbreed species of its parents - potentially even complete with a unique typing, appearance, and moveset compared to others of it's species. The chance of receiving a crossbreed is 1 in 100 - feel free to try different combinations to see what sticks!

capture"But what use is any of this information if I don't own any Pokemon?"Quite right you are! Let's cover the art of gaining new friends then, shall we? On SKYDROP! Pokemon might be obtained through one of four ways. 1. The old fashioned way! Battle an opponent Pokemon and capture them in order to have them join your team. 2. Persuade a Pokemon to join you, either through bribery or otherwise somehow finding common ground. You may have to get creative for this one. 3. Having the Pokemon be given to you, whether by an event-related NPC or another Player, or 4. Fucking steal that shit. As the first three are fairly self-explanatory, let's talk about doing crimes first. Agresti, you see, is in the early stages of its civilization, and thus, concepts for losers like "jurisdiction" and "jail" don't exist here yet. There's the Guild, who probably won't take kindly to your heckling of other fallers, but... well, that's something for another section. Robbing someone isn't much different from challenging another player to a battle - as mentioned above, we use communication and the honor system, and if your OC is crafty and succeeds in getting the jump on someone - be it a fellow member or an npc - you may steal their Pokemon. Thievery has the fun bonus of being treated like a trade (if a slightly illegal one) and thus, stolen Pokemon will get the same benefits as traded ones, except with slightly less in-character consent involved. Hurrah! ...That said, not everybody will generally take kindly to thieves in a place where resources are already limited. If they don't feel like coming after you themselves, the victim is welcome to put up a mission on the guild boards to request that someone get back what was taken from them at no charge to themselves.. which will, in turn, paint a big, fat target on your back as those goodie goodies come to defeat you for some of those sweet, sweet guild rewards. Of course, there's always a chance that no one will take the job, or they simply won't be able to beat you, in which case... who says crime doesn't pay? But, back to more legal matters... you may be wondering who controls the wild Pokemon - the staff, or the players? On SKYDROP!, it's a bit of a mix - any Pokemon listed as 'swarming' or 'common' on a particular route may be spawned freely, by you, at any time. You can use these Pokemon to battle, capture, or whatever other purposes you may have for them. You can count up EXP yourself, but please @ a staff member if you make a capture so we can keep up to date on what's going on. To keep things from getting cluttered, we ask that you please only spawn one Pokemon maximum per every three posts made by you on a solo thread. If you're looking for something a little spicier, however... well, then you're at the mercy of the people. If you're role playing along and your thread is particularly entertaining, another member is welcome to slide in and play an uncommon Pokemon for you. This can either be conducted in played out battle or prompt format, with the player who brought it to the table being the judge. Please do not nag or otherwise bother other members to do this for you, or you will be prohibited from receiving rarer spawned Pokemon for a length of time determined at sentencing. For rare and special encounters, you can expect a visit from your local friendly staff. Similarly to other members, these Pokemon will be released in a format as per their discretion, and shall be played out in the format they deem fit. Once again, please do not harass staff to spawn Pokemon for you, or you will only get silence for a length of time determined at sentencing. If you persist in being a fusspot and continue heckling members or staff after being prohibited, harsher restrictions or a ban may be imposed. In a less threatening sounding nutshell, let's keep this fair and fun for everyone! If you're open to someone else potentially stepping into your thread - be it other members or staff - place a [*] after the title. If you'd rather train by yourself or have a partner already in mind, instead place a [-] after your title. If you're curious as to why, have a look at our travel guide.

barteringAs you may have noticed, we have no word count system, and nothing that generates money by the post. So, you may wonder, how, precisely, do you afford your potions and such? Thing is... well, you don't. Although you may have come to Agresti with Poke on your person, it has no inherent value here - partially because there's no government, and partially because Frontier City isn't quite stable enough on its own yet to see any good in a monetary system. You can't eat coin, after all - and, given that many visitors to the region are temporary, amassing it when service could be provided instead has made it less than appealing. So, when in Agresti, save your money and either trade your goods and Pokemon for other things you need, or call in a favor instead. Favors can be earned by either taking up an occupation, completing tasks for others in the form of missions, or... well, on some occasions, asking. The last one might not always work if you're not a compelling sort, and you may find yourself paying in another way down the line... but hey, at least it's a quick way to get what you want! These favors can be traded in at the market for everything from pokeballs to property, depending on how much you've racked up over time. Everybody wants to help a hero! ... Or a villain, as the case may be sometimes. Prove yourself useful, and someone will always be there to help you out of... ahem... bad situations. Like coupons or vouchers, favors are generally only good with the person or organization who gave them to you... but, well, everyone needs something. Sometimes businesses will let you pay in other favors - if the mart requires something from the guild, for example, they would likely be willing to barter with you for that. Don't have anything they'd want? Oftentimes, for smaller orders, most businesses will allow you to do work for them in exchange for your desired item or service as recompense. More on that below. occupationsOr, you know, you can run your own business and control the lucrative trading economy yourself. Occupations are basically services or items your character is able to offer. Maybe they were a doctor back in their home region? A baker? With a little persuasion, you can find a market for just about anything. But, how would that logistically manifest in terms of tasks outside of the role play? With prompts, of course! Once per week, you'll be given a prompt on the occupation board, located under Frontier Today. This prompt could be anything - a word or line of dialogue you have to work into a paragraph or two about your character doing something, a question, or... well, just about anything, really. The specifics will be given the week of. For completing the prompt, you will receive between 1 and 5 Occupational Favors, depending on how put together the prompt is, how creative/entertaining you were with your response, and a secret requirement that will change week to week. These Occupational Favors can be used for any business as though it were a favor directly for them. Neat, right? Occupational favors cannot be given between characters, however - they're good only for the account they're done on. If you have a character that'd be less inclined to a full-time occupation, however, you're also free to take part time jobs for smaller necessities, like Pokeballs or Potions. This is when, instead of calling in a favor, you can instead opt into doing a flash prompt - that is, a prompt within a pre-established time limit - instead. If completed on time and to the satisfaction of the one who issued it to you, you'll get your requested items.

What, you're ready to leave Frontier City already? That's a little dangerous. I hope you have a strong Pokemon with you, or at the very least a decent escort - otherwise, you might find yourself in for one hell of a time. Well, whatever your reason, let's go over the basics first. travelingAh, the journey. The hallmark of any forum-based Pokemon role play. Given that Agresti has no actual... gyms... or really any major cities beyond the one a series of transient citizens built out of the ruins of a resort for elitist trainers... you may find yourself thinking it's impossible to travel. Not so! Those cities and towns and attractions just need to be carved out of the barren countryside, just as a sculptor crafts a plain block of clay into a work of art. But we'll get into that later. In SKYDROP!, there is no restrictions on your travel within unlocked areas. Given that we operate on mostly-liquid time, there's a good chance that your character would be able to show up in the area at some point before the season is over. That means, you may role play wherever you like so long as it has an existing sub-board, be it for the purpose of threading with another character or capturing Pokemon. Which, in a similar vein... There is no distinction between capture, battle, and social threads on SKYDROP!.... as all three could potentially happen in the same thread. Instead, there is interference and non-interference. As you might remember from the capture section of our Pokemon guide, if you would like a mod or other players to come into your thread with wild Pokemon, you are to add a [*] into your subject line after the title. This is essentially an indication that your thread is open - how others choose to interact with it is up to them. You may get a wild Pokemon... or a little event... or maybe you'll get the chance to meet their character on the road! You never know until it happens. Of course, not everybody likes unpredictability. We get that. That's why we also have the [-] symbol - this indicates that your thread is closed. In a closed thread, you may battle and capture Pokemon on your own, or have a private social affair between your OC and others in the role play. Closed threads are not a way for you to get personal access to a private moderator, however - your invitees are not permitted to spawn uncommon Pokemon or mini-events. Remember, you're in a group role play - while you're more than welcome to take things one on one, using favoritism to give each other an unfair advantage isn't cool.

Interested in tossing a character into the wormhole? Great! All you have to do is fill out the application below in it's own post in this section. A staff member will check it over, and, if everything is good, it will be sorted into a lettered section depending on your character's first initial. After that, you'll be all set to role play! A few points of note before you begin:- OCs and canon GAMEVERSE characters are permitted on this site! Canon characters will be judged a little more roughly than OCs (given that most are major figures in their respective universes), but given that Pokemon characters don't tend to be terribly fleshed out in the first place, there's plenty of room to move. We will, however, only accept one of each canon character at a given time. - If you're curious about the timeline for the gameverse events considered canon on SD!, have a look here. - Non-canon regions used in other role plays also exist in SKYDROP!'s setting. You're welcome to import a character from elsewhere with any history they've had in a non-canon region, provided you follow SD!'s rules (e.g. they're not very likely to keep their Pokemon/items/etc.) and can fill out the application accordingly. - When making your character, put their full name in lower case in the subject line (last, first). In the description below, write their faction and occupation. This is for organizational purposes. - You can fill this out in any manner you deem comfortable! Bullet points and paragraphs are both acceptable, so long as you get the points you need to across. I might ask for elaboration on certain subjects, but otherwise, go nuts. full nameage. | PRONOUNS. | FACTION. | roleplayer. |

Not a whole lot of point in having a Pokemon role play without Pokemon, is there? We'll be covering a variety of topics below, so feel free to scroll until you find the header of the section you came for. battleFirst and foremost, SKYDROP! works primarily on the honor system. We aren't looking to make things too complicated, and thus, you won't find stats here. You'e free to implement things such as coin flips or dice rolls on an individual basis with the person you're role playing with if you feel that would help to keep things fair, but they aren't required. While Gym Leaders and Contest Masters may implement specific regulations that you must follow when battling them, otherwise, anything goes - we encourage you to be creative with your moves, make use of objects that might logically be in the setting, and have fun with it! However, make sure to leave room for common sense as well - a level 50 Wailord, under normal circumstances, for example, probably wouldn't take much notice of a level 5 Ratatta assailing it with tackles with the intent of causing it to faint. Otherwise, the ball will (mostly) be left in your court without a great deal of supervision from staff. However, in order for the honor system to work, we need fairness - something that the mod team is willing to trust you and your fellow players with for the time being. If you feel someone is not being fair and you are unable to work the matter out between the two (or more) of you, feel free to retrieve a mod and we can discuss the case together. However, try to only use this as a last resort - we're all well out of preschool here, and we trust you're more than capable of solving your own disputes. exp"But if there's no focus on word count, and the staff of SKYDROP! is laissez-faire about battles, then how do our Pokemon level up and learn new moves?" you ask. Good question! The answer to that is that on SKYDROP!, the 'experience' part of experience points comes from... well, actually experiencing things! Are you facing a Pokemon you've never encountered before? Challenging a trainer you've never battled? Setting foot in an area you've never been in before, and, with your Pokemon's aid, finding ways to press further in ways no one else has before? All good experiences! After all, wisdom doesn't come from doing the same old thing over and over, right? Not to say you CAN'T do the same old thing again and again, but the experience you will receive from it will be halved. As you might have anticipated, experiences are measured in the form of threads, which in turn go towards levels. Any thread that something notable has happened in with at least 8 posts in may qualify as an experience - if you want it counted, add up your total based on the list below in your final post of the thread. This can be done with abandoned threads as well, provided they meet the criteria - just notify a mod of what occurred so the thread can be archived. You can find a list of experience types and how many points they award in the spoiler tag below; Individual (These count for only the Pokemon you've used!)
Battling a Pokemon (wild) - 0.25 Battling a Pokemon (trainer owned) - 0.5 Battling a new Pokemon (wild species) - 0.5 Battling a new Pokemon (trainer owned species) - 1
Winning against a weaker opponent - 0.5 Winning against a similarly leveled opponent - 1 Winning against a stronger (+3 or more levels) opponent - 2 Winning in a Gym (any) - 5 Winning a Contest (any) - 5 Winning a Special Encounter (ex. Ultra Beasts or Pseudolegendaries) - 5 Battling a Legendary Pokemon - 20
Losing against a weaker opponent - 0.5 Losing against a similarly leveled opponent - 1 Losing against a stronger (+3 or more levels) opponent - 2 Losing in a Gym (any) - 2.5 Losing a Contest (any) - 2.5 Losing a Special Encounter (ex. Ultra Beasts) - 1.5
Battling against a Pokemon with a type advantage - 0.5 Battling against a Pokemon with a type disadvantage - 1 Battling against a Pokemon with a type immunity - 1.5
Participating in a double battle (solo) - add x0.5 of existing EXP to total Participating in a double battle (with partner) - x2 existing EXP
Learning a new move (level up) - 1 Leaning a new move (taught) - 3
Group (These apply for all Pokemon in your active party!)
Entering a new route (only applies one time per route) - 1
Participating in an exploration - 5 Discovering a new area - 3 Establishing a new town - 5 Establishing a new business - 10 Establishing a new gym/contest hall - 10 Succeeding in an exploration - 10 Needing to be rescued during exploration - 5 Participating in a successful rescue party - 10
Joining a group/gang - 10 Succeeding in a mission/heist - 5 Failing a mission/heist - 2.5
Participating in a plot event - Varies; bonus will be announced at the end of the event.
Do the events of your thread cover multiple categories in the list above? Great! Feel free to add them together. For example, if it's your first time fighting your new rival's newborn Torchic, which is the same level as your newborn Mudkip, and you win, the point gain would look like this; Battling a Pokemon (trainer owned) - 0.5 Battling a new Pokemon (trainer owned species) - 1 Winning against a similarly leveled opponent - 1 Battling against a Pokemon with a type advantage - 0.5 ------------- = 3 Congrats! Your theoretical Mudkip earned 3 experience points. Now, how would that translate into levels? Let's take a look. Level Range = Points needed to advance 1-5 = 2 6-10 = 4 10-15 = 6 16-20 = 8 21-25 = 10 26-30 = 12 31-35 = 14 36-40 = 16 41-45 = 18 46-50 = 20
51-55 = 22 56-60 = 24 61-65 = 26 66-70 = 28 71-75 = 30 76-80 = 32 81-85 = 34 86-90 = 36 91-95 = 38 96-100 = 40
So, assuming your Mudkip was level 1, he's now grown to level 2 from this experience! That third point gets rolled over, so now he only needs one more experience point to grow to level 3. He'll get there yet! Just as traded Pokemon gain bonus EXP in-game, a Pokemon that is traded in SKYDROP's setting will have it's experiences reset. After all, it's a whole new set of fresh experiences when you do things with a different person. movesNow, as you might have seen in the experience section, learning moves also qualifies you for exp. There's a special reason for this - namely that Pokemon do not just... automatically have mastery of their moves upon leveling up. No, here at SKYDROP!, we have to put in a little work for that luxury - but in exchange, you may begin to teach your Pokemon any move available to them in-game - whether that be an egg move, a move tutor's attack, or a technical machine move - right from the get-go. Remember, however, moves can come from a multitude of different sources. Your garden variety ones can be found in the Pokedex, with instructions on how your Pokemon can be taught to perform them. That isn't to say leveling up has no purpose here, however; higher level moves are easier to learn and master by higher level Pokemon. Likewise, non-level based moves have additional requirements that will be elaborated on below. But how do you learn a move? Similar to EXP, your Pokemon must go through the motions of being taught - we ask you provide a short segment within your post of your Pokemon actually 'learning' the move. This could be anything from being guided through it's use, practicing it through training, or trying out the move in battle (although perhaps they may be slower and not as successful in the execution as a Pokemon that has fully learned the move). Once you reach the post quota set out below, your Pokemon may have full mastery of the move to use tactically in battle. That easy! It should be noted that move usage is not influenced by a Pokemon's gender here. An attract from a male Skitty would have just as much effect on another male or genderless Pokemon as it would a female. It's equality. Post Quotas Level-Up Move (Lower Level) - 2 Posts Level-Up Move (Same Level) - 4 Posts Level-Up Move (Learned at level 1-9 higher than your own) - 8 Posts Level-Up Move (Learned at level 10+ your own) - 15 Posts Egg Move (Must be taught by a Pokemon that has fully learned the attack, be it yours or someone else's) - 6 Posts Move Tutor's Move (Must be first taught by another player whose Pokemon has already fully learned the attack) - 10 Posts Technical Machines (Explained Below) - 1 Post TMs are a bit of a special case, since while they can be found scattered in and around the islands, they're quite a bit harder to come by and currently correspond with those on the Hoenn TM List only. As Agresti expands, so too will the Pokemon and TMs available to it as a greater variety of trainers are taken into it's breadth. Your Pokemon can still take the long route to learning TM and HM moves, however - if you don't posses the TM or HM itself, they can be learned in the same way move tutor attacks are. Don't think any of your effort is wasted if you want your Pokemon to learn new attacks, however! In exchange for having a slightly more laborious system, there is no cap on how many moves your companions can know at one time. Knowledge is power! It should also be noted that you can learn to communicate with your Pokemon (ie. Pokespeak) if you so prefer in a similar manner - however, the process will take about 15 posts of conscious effort to learn to understand each other if you aren't affiliated with the Deliverance (in which case, it's a skill you gain innately). After that point, you will be able to communicate freely with that Pokemon - the process must be repeated with every other Pokemon you capture after, but it will only take 10 posts for each consecutive team member. evolutionYou will be delighted to discover that there is no special gimmick with evolution - things are pretty much the same as they are in-game. When your Pokemon reaches the required level, has a special stone used on it, is traded or given to another player's character or whatever else have you, it then has the capacity to evolve. Pokemon that evolve via friendship will be covered in the appropriate section - for special cases, such as Pokemon that evolve in different environments, check the spoiler tab below. Pokemon that require a hold item + trading (ex. Dusknoir, Milotic) - The appropriate item may be used like an evolutionary stone. Leafeon - Use a Mossy Rock Glaceon - Use a Frozen Rock Magnezone / Probopass / Vikavolt / Etc. - Level up @ Mt. Crescent [UNDISCOVERED] Day / Night Evolutions - Level up in a thread where it is specified to be daytime or nighttime Goodra - Use a Damp Rock Malamar - Hold your level 30 Inkay upside down in-thread
